Carotenoids
What are zeaxanthin and lutein and how do they help?
Carotenoids are found in red, yellow and orange fruits and green leafy vegetables. They include proteins like carotene (found in carrots), lycopene (found in tomatoes) and xanthophyll (found in Marigold flowers).

Lutein (lu-teen) and zeaxanthin (zee-uh-zan'-thin) are two xanthophyll (zan-tho-phil) carotenoids that are concentrated in the macula of the eye. Both of these substances act like antioxidants by helping to maintain healthy cells in the eye and absorbing light.
